Memory Lane’s Exclusive Auction Showcases Vintage Card Collection

Memory Lane’s distinguished Premier Auction is currently captivating collectors with its meticulously curated collection of 120 vintage sports cards. This exclusive event, which will run until February 4th, features a limited yet impressive selection of cards that have garnered attention for their rarity and high grading.

One of the crown jewels of the auction is the 1909 T204 Ramly Walter Johnson rookie card, a highly sought-after piece. Only two cards of this kind are in NM/MT (Near Mint to Mint) condition graded PSA 8, making it a true rarity in the collecting world. Unsurprisingly, this card quickly achieved a six-figure bid, representing its immense value and desirability among collectors. Equally captivating is the T206 Ty Cobb Portrait (Green) card, with just three copies graded PSA 7 in existence. Additionally, a PSA 6 Cobb ‘Bat Off Shoulder’ Old Mill back card is also up for auction.

The pre-war era is well-represented in this auction with exceptional pieces like the PSA 7 graded T206 Cy Young card and the highest graded PSA 9 T206 Nap Lajoie (Throwing) card. Another standout item is the 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle card in PSA 9 grade. With only 13 cards known to be at this level and two graded even higher, it is a truly prized possession for any serious collector.

The legacy of Mickey Mantle continues to shine in the auction with six additional cards from the 1950s. Each of these cards has been graded either 8 or 9, including rare versions from the 1953 Topps and Bowman series.

Roberto Clemente’s cards from 1956 to 1973 dominate the auction, particularly those graded Mint 9. They outnumber cards of other players and are highly sought-after by collectors. Willie Mays is also well-represented with exceptional pieces such as a rare 1962 Topps card graded PSA 9 and a 1970 Topps card, one of only two graded PSA 10.

Jackie Robinson, a true legend of the sport, is honored in the auction with four cards. These highlight PSA graded versions of his 1949 Bowman and 1952 Topps issues. Additionally, the auction features PSA 10 rookie cards of baseball greats George Brett and Rickey Henderson.

Football enthusiasts will find excitement in the high-grade rookie cards of Frank Gifford, Johnny Unitas, and Joe Namath. Likewise, basketball collectors have a lot to look forward to, with rookie cards of Bill Russell (PSA 7), Wilt Chamberlain (PSA 8), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (PSA 8), Larry Bird/Magic Johnson (PSA 9), and Michael Jordan (PSA 8) up for grabs.

Memory Lane’s Premier Auction provides an incredible opportunity for collectors to acquire pieces of sports history. With the event culminating on February 4th, interested parties can find more information on Memory Lane’s website and take part in the excitement surrounding these rare and highly graded vintage sports cards.
