SCP’s Spring Premier Auction Showcases George Mikan Warm-Up Suit

SCP Auctions is set to enthrall sports memorabilia collectors with its Spring Premier catalog, featuring an array of unique and highly sought-after items. The spotlight of the auction shines on the only known George Mikan Minneapolis Lakers warm-up suit, a treasured piece signed by the basketball legend himself. This one-of-a-kind ensemble, comprising a jacket and pants autographed by Mikan, is accompanied by a Letter of Authentication from Sports Investors Authentication and is estimated to command a staggering price of over $400,000.

George Mikan’s legacy in basketball history makes his memorabilia particularly prized among enthusiasts, especially items worn during games. Alongside the iconic warm-up suit, the auction boasts an impressive collection of vintage baseball cards, including a PSA 7 Mickey Mantle 1951 Bowman rookie card, two 1952 Topps Mantles, a 1963 Topps Mantle in SGC 9 condition, and a rare 1933 Goudey #92 Lou Gehrig graded SGC 9, with the Gehrig card anticipated to fetch over $150,000.

For fans of Pete Rose memorabilia, the auction presents the second-largest master set of his cards, following SCP’s previous sale of the top-ranked set last autumn. Additionally, the event features notable Shohei Ohtani cards and memorabilia, such as his jersey worn on Jackie Robinson Day in 2023, projected to attract bids in the six-figure range, and the ball from Ohtani’s 200th career home run.

Among the standout items up for bidding are two pairs of game-worn Michael Jordan shoes, a Roberto Clemente cap, a Ronald Acuna Jr. jersey authenticated with photo-matching, and a signed Tua Tagovailoa jersey from 2023. The auction also offers upscale jewelry pieces like the 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP award, Olympic gold medals awarded to Jim Hines and Oleksandr Abramenko, a 2003 Florida Marlins World Series ring, and a 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA championship ring.

Noteworthy lots include game-worn and signed shoes from Kobe Bryant, a 1957 Mickey Mantle AL MVP trophy, a bat used by Ted Williams, a 2023 Bowman Chrome Draft Tom Brady Orange Refractor autographed card, a 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie card, a baseball bearing the signatures of early Hall of Fame inductees and iconic Yankees players, as well as historical sports memorabilia dating back to the early 20th century.

With a diverse selection of over 400 lots, the auction commenced on Wednesday and will run until Saturday, April 13, providing bidders with the opportunity to acquire these exceptional pieces at SCPAuctions.com.
