Knoxville Store Burglarized: Autographed Jerseys Worth $22,000 Stolen

In a daring act of thievery, Cody Denning found himself in hot water, charged with burglary, theft of property, and vandalism after his escapade at Underdog Collectibles in Knoxville. The heist orchestrated by Denning saw him shatter the storefront window before making away with a total of 17 highly prized autographed jerseys, amounting to a hefty $22,000 in losses for the store.

The caper began to unfold on the late evening of May 18 when Denning made a calculated visit to the store, suspiciously eyeing the very jerseys he would later pilfer. Surveillance footage caught him meticulously examining and rearranging the jerseys around 8:50 p.m., all while casually discussing his nefarious plans with his partner in crime, his wife. Denning’s devious intentions came to fruition hours later as he forcibly broke into the store by hurling a rock through the window, successfully executing two separate thefts in the early hours of the morning.

Denning’s endeavors to offload some of the stolen loot were promptly recorded as he attempted to peddle two of the ill-gotten jerseys at a local sports retailer, Pro Image Sports, situated in West Town Mall. Moreover, law enforcement officials noted that the footage from Denning’s vehicle exhibited a collection of hats, which were also reported missing from Underdog Collectibles, further solidifying his implicating role in the grand theft.

Subsequent to the shocking incident, Underdog Collectibles turned to the reach of social media in a bid to enlist the public’s support in reclaiming the purloined jerseys. They implored all those who might encounter the jerseys to reach out to them for identification verification using the provided serial numbers, all in the hopes of bringing the culprit to justice and salvaging the stolen memorabilia.

The store reassured its clientele that the physical damage sustained during the break-in was relatively minimal, and fortunately, no individuals were harmed in the aftermath of the ordeal. Undeterred by the setback, they continue to rally the community’s aid in tracking down the stolen goods to thwart any further illicit activities and propel their ongoing efforts for retrieval and restoration.
